Directions
Ads use certain kinds of persuasive writing tactics, or techniques, to convince you to do something or take an action. You’ll know the ads are trying really hard to sell you something when they:
- Generalize—Example: “Sue earned $40,000 selling cosmetics. If she can do it you can do it.”
- Scare—Example: “If you don’t use this shampoo, you may lose your hair.”
- Exaggerate—Example: “This plan will create a better future for every man, woman, and child.”
