Directions

Another step in making a budget is keeping track of how much you’re spending.

In this activity, help Paulette, Isha, and Sol and Viv find out if their expenses are over or under the amount they’ve budgeted for them.

To feed their family of five, Sol and Viv have spent $40 on cereal, $170 on fresh fruits, $80 on sandwich meats, $56 on milk and butter, $414 on chicken and fish, $83 on vegetables and potatoes, and $43 on snack foods in the last month. With a monthly budget of $800 for food, are they over or under their budget?
