To figure out what percentage of your pay is deducted each week, you divide.

Example:

Joe’s gross pay is $800, and $200 is deducted each week. What percentage is deducted? 

  • Divide $200 by $800. 
  • 0.25 appears as the answer. 
  • Move the decimal point two places to the right. 
  • The answer is 25%.
