We can also show percents as decimals.
Here's how:
Insert a decimal point 2 places to the left of the percent sign. Then drop the percent sign.
20% = 0.20 = 0.2
If a percent is only one digit, you'll have to add a zero.
8% = 0.08
You can also think about this in dealing with money. $0.77 has a decimal point to show that numbers on the right of the decimal are parts of a whole dollar, made up of a total of 100 cents. So $0.77 is 77 cents, or 77% of a whole dollar.
