It’s hard to ignore the incredible rise in the level of atmospheric CO₂ on the right edge of the graph as we approach the present. That steep climb obviously breaks the pattern of the past 400,000 years. This sudden change in the air is due to human activity. Tons and tons of carbon dioxide are released into the air as we burn fossil fuels for transportation, industry, and generating electricity.
