Sodium occurs naturally in everything from meat to vegetables. What we really have to watch out for is the added sodium we get from processed and store-bought foods. You can figure out how much sodium you’re eating by checking out food labels--but don’t forget to note the serving size.

It’s movie night, and that means popcorn! This food label is on a bag of microwave popcorn:

Let’s say you added 1/2 teaspoon of salt to the whole bag of popcorn.
1/2 teaspoon salt = 1,150 mg of sodium
