Health experts say that most people should have 2,300 mg or less of sodium per day, but the average American eats about 3,400 milligrams of sodium every day!

You may be surprised by the amount of sodium in some of the foods you eat for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks.

Fast food restaurants serve up many dishes that contain a lot of salt. An order of pancakes with scrambled eggs at a fast food restaurant can contain 2,060 mg of sodium. That doesn't include the butter and syrup you add at the table.

How much sodium can you cut out if you whip up 2 pancakes and 2 scrambled eggs at home instead? (Leave out the butter and syrup, since we didn't count those in the restaurant meal either.)
