We're not done yet! Earlier, we calculated a 10% discount on the $150 bookshelf. But we didn't find the final sale price. Here’s what we have to do.

  1. Find the discount. Change the percent to a decimal and multiply it by the whole. Discount: 0.10 × $150 = $15.00
  2. Next, find the sale price. Subtract the discount from the original price (the whole). Sale Price: $150 − $15.00 = $135.00
A bicycle is $300. What is the final sale price if the bicycle is marked 25% off?
