Here are some equivalent fractions we saw from the previous question.
- 4/8 = 1/2
- 3/9 = 1/3
- 9/12 = 3/4
- 6/9 = 2/3
Do you see a pattern? The fractions on the left can be “reduced” to the fraction on the right by dividing both its numerator (top) and denominator (bottom) by the same number. A number that can be evenly divided into both the numerator and the denominator is called the common factor.
Drag and drop to match the common factor used to simplify each pair of equivalent fractions.
