In addition to glucose, there are other monosaccharides. Fructose is a common monosaccharide found in fruit, vegetables, and in the high-fructose corn syrup that sweetens many soft drinks and snacks. In fact, fructose is the sweetest of all natural sugars.
Fructose has the same chemical formula as glucose, but the atoms are arranged differently. The fructose molecule is often represented as a pentagon.
